Berasia police have apprehended a 19-year-old youth, identified as Sumit Meena, for allegedly molesting a 16-year-old girl in her home on Saturday night. The accused, a neighbour of the victim, reportedly sneaked into her residence under the cover of darkness, triggering outrage in the local community. According to the victim’s mother, she and her daughter were asleep in the same room when Sumit entered and molested the minor. The girl’s cries for help woke her mother, but Sumit managed to flee, taking advantage of the darkness.

 

The mother promptly reported the incident, leading to swift action by the Berasia police. An FIR was registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, and a police team conducted a raid to nab the accused. Sumit Meena was arrested following the operation and has been sent to judicial custody, police officials confirmed. The incident has raised concerns about safety in residential areas, with authorities urging residents to remain vigilant. The police are continuing their investigation to ensure all aspects of the case are thoroughly examined, while the victim and her family are being supported in the aftermath of the traumatic event.
