In a surprising discovery during routine cleaning of well, a large number of empty cartridges and hand grenade shells were found in Ama Nala village under the jurisdiction of Ranjhi Police Station, on Friday. Taking prompt action on the information, police reached the spot seized the ammunition shells and started investigations. Every year before onset of summer, cleaning of wells is done. On the occasion, labourers were cleaning a well in Ama Nala locality when they discovered a significant number of empty cartridges. Information was immediately relayed to Ranjhi CSP Satish Sahu, following which police personnel reached the scene and seized the materials.

The area where these items were found is largely inhabited by labourers. Preliminary investigations suggest that someone, possibly a labourer, may have collected the used shells from a nearby low-profile firing range (LPR) and dumped them into the well. Additional SP (Rural) Suryakant Sharma informed that local residents informed the authorities about suspicious items in the well. On investigation, around 50 empty cartridges and several used hand grenade shells were recovered. These items have been seized and further questioning of nearby residents is currently underway to trace the origin and purpose of the discarded ammunition.
