Jabalpur’s Shambhavi Singh Chandel and Kumud Gupta brought laurels by winning a bronze and a silver medal in India Open Shooting Competition in Mhow, Indore. Shambhavi secured a bronze medal in the 10m Air Pistol Youth Women category, scoring 357 points. This was her comeback performance after a long break and she surprised everyone by clinching a medal in her very first competition. A student of Joy Senior Secondary School, Shambhavi's success marks a promising return to the sport. In the 10m Air Pistol Master Women category, Kumud Gupta scored 342 points and claimed the silver medal. A true inspiration, Kumud balances her roles as a homemaker, mother and grandmother while pursuing her passion for shooting. At the age of 54, she previously won a gold medal in the state-level shooting competition in the Masters category. Both Shambhavi and Kumud are being trained under senior coach Nishant Nathwani, assistant coach Shakti Chakravarti and junior coach Sangeeta Pasi at Gun for Glory Shooting Academy, Jabalpur.
