In a major security initiative for this year’s Shri Ram Navami Shobhayatra, the City Police are deploying cutting-edge technology to monitor the Shobhayatra route to ensure a peaceful and smooth procession. The Shobhayatra will commence from the Poddareshwar Ram Mandir on Sunday and the police have spared no effort to ensure safety measures are robust.
A massive police presence will be felt across the city with Central Avenue in Central Nagpur set to be transformed into a fortified police camp. Five drones will be deployed to provide real-time aerial surveillance of the procession’s route.
These drones will track the flow of the crowd and monitor movements along key spots. The drones will alert police if they find any disruptions or untoward incidents. In addition to drones, surveillance vans will also patrol the route with cameras installed on the roofs.
The cameras will automatically capture every suspicious movement and do real-time analysis.
“Given the large turnout expected for the Shobhayatra, we have implemented these modern surveillance technologies to enhance security. Our goal is to provide a safe and serene environment for all devotees,” said a senior police officer involved in the planning.
As part of heightened security, police have been instructed to act quickly, with direct orders to arrest anyone showing suspicious behaviour.
A total of 5,000 policemen, including two contingents of the State Reserve Police Force (SRPF), will be stationed throughout the route, including areas like Ramnagar.
