In a significant move for aspiring educators, Madhya Pradesh has unveiled plans to fill 10,756 vacancies for primary and secondary school teachers across the State. The recruitment examination, initially scheduled to begin on April 15, has been rescheduled to April 20, and will be conducted by the Madhya Pradesh Employees Selection Board (MPESB). The exam will take place across 13 cities, including Bhopal, Indore, Jabalpur, and Gwalior, with strict entry protocols requiring candidates to carry photo identification.

The examination will be held in two shifts to accommodate the large number of applicants: Morning Shift: 9:00 am to 11 am and Afternoon Shift: 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm. Candidates must bring a Government-issued photo ID (such as Aadhaar, PAN, or voter ID) for verification. Without valid identification, entry to the examination centre will be denied. In a landmark decision, the State Government has introduced a 50% horizontal reservation for eligible guest teachers in the upcoming recruitment. To qualify, guest teachers must have completed 200 working days across three academic sessions in Government schools. This marks a departure from the previous system, where guest teachers received only a 5–20 mark advantage in scorecards during recruitment.

The reservation policy, introduced through an amendment to the Madhya Pradesh State School Education Service (Academic Cadre) Rules, 2018, aims to recognise the contributions of guest teachers. However, if reserved seats remain unfilled by eligible guest teachers, vacancies will be allocated to other qualified candidates. Currently, over 72,000 guest teachers are employed in Madhya Pradesh’s Government schools. Until now, their recruitment benefits were limited to score-based incentives. The new reservation policy, notified via a recent gazette, is the first time such a significant quota has been extended to guest teachers. The five-day postponement of the examination provides additional preparation time for candidates. Aspirants are advised to download their admit cards from the MPESB portal and review centre details carefully. With over 10,000 positions at stake and a progressive reservation policy, this recruitment drive is poised to address staffing shortages while offering career stability to thousands of guest educators. The move underscores the State’s commitment to strengthening its education system by blending fresh talent with experienced professionals.
