Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah on Saturday chaired a high-level review meeting in Nava Raipur to assess the security and development situation in Left Wing Extremism (LWE)-affected areas of Chhattisgarh. The meeting, held at Mayfair Lake Resort in Atal Nagar, was attended by Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma, and senior officials from the state and central security apparatus. In a strong statement during the deliberations, Shah reiterated the Centre's resolve to wipe out Naxalism, declaring that “before March 31, Naxalism will become history in the entire country, including Chhattisgarh.” Taking to social media platform X, the Home Minister said: “Held a review meeting on Left Wing Extremism with Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai Ji, Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma, senior officials, police officers and CAPF officers. The double engine government under the leadership of Modi ji is leaving no stone unturned in completely eradicating Naxalism.”

The meeting included detailed discussions on ongoing anti-Naxal operations, inter-agency coordination, and development initiatives in the LWE-affected districts. Top officials including the Chief Secretary Amitabh Jain, Director General of Police Arun Deo Gautam, Director of the Intelligence Bureau, and heads of key central forces like CRPF, BSF, ITBP, and NIA. While commending the state’s progress on both security and development fronts, Shah emphasized the importance of maintaining momentum. “The ongoing fight against Naxalites must not be allowed to scatter,” he said. A key take away from the meeting was the directive to expand the ‘Niyad Nellnar’ scheme — which facilitates delivery of government services in Naxal-hit areas — from a 5 km to a 10 km radius around security camps. Shah stressed that welfare benefits must reach every citizen in the conflict-affected zones. Shah also called for enhanced coordination between state police and central forces to effectively monitor and apprehend Naxal operatives attempting to flee across state borders. “Equal opportunities for development must reach every citizen,” he asserted, underlining the government's dual-pronged approach combining firm security action with inclusive development.
