A young man from Hathaikheda, Bhopal, identified as Rajesh Sharma, 28, became the victim of a shocking acid attack late Friday night near a local bridge. The incident stems from a recent altercation with a neighbour that had reportedly been settled, but tensions flared again, leading to the violent assault. Piplani Police have taken up the case and are actively searching for the culprits involved.
Rajesh, who earns a living by working as a welder, recounted the events to the police after being rushed to a hospital. The trouble began three days earlier when he clashed with his neighbour, Madan Vishwakarma, resulting in a scuffle. Villagers intervened, and the two parties reached an agreement at the Bilkhiriya police station, with Rajesh covering Madan’s medical costs. However, the truce didn’t last. On Friday evening, Rajesh stepped out to herd his cattle from a nearby forested area. He claims Madan, along with two others, trailed him discreetly.
As he headed home, the group ambushed him. Riding two bikes, they allegedly beat him before Madan splashed acid on his face and fled.
Inspector Anurag Lal, overseeing the investigation, confirmed that the police were alerted by hospital staff and promptly recorded Rajesh’s account. The attackers, numbering three, are now on the run, but authorities are confident of nabbing them soon. The sudden escalation from a resolved dispute to such a brutal act has left the community shaken, and police are working diligently to uncover the full motive and ensure justice is served.
