A case has been filed against multiple employees of Hexaware Technologies Limited in Mihan for allegedly defrauding the company of over Rs 4.83 crore through a fake refunds scam. The complainant, Arvind Vinod Malgund (41), General Manager at the company, and a resident of Jayanti Nagari, Besa-Pipala Road, discovered the fraud during a routine data check by the company’s quality team. It was revealed that several employees had been issuing refunds to customers without getting the goods returned as required. This resulted in major financial losses to the company. According to the company’s protocols, if customers face issues with products purchased through e-commerce platforms, the employees are authorised to process refunds upon the return of the goods.
 
However, it became apparent that certain employees had manipulated the system from December 2023 to February 2025. They had created fake customer accounts and refunded money to these fabricated customers and also failed to get goods returned to the company.
 
The accused employees have been identified as Jayant Sameer Das, a resident of NIT Colony, Nara Road, Jaripatka; Aditya Vasant Dongre, a resident of Model Mill Chowk, Ganeshpeth; Piyush Yogesh Sodari, a resident of Plot No 411, Bhagyashree Lay-out, Trimurti Nagar; Mukesh Kumar, a resident of Plot No 538, Baraipura, Maskasath; Pawan Prahlad Chachane, a resident of Plot No 137, Snehdeep Colony; Ajikya Pradeep Meshram, a resident of Gopal Nagar, Third Bus Stop and Surendra Hariram Agase, a resident of Mahatma Phule Nagar, Somalwada. The police investigation revealed that the accused have worked together to siphon off a total amount of Rs 4,83,30,168/- from the company. They used their access to the company’s system to create fake refunds and pocket the funds for personal gain. During the fraud, the were falsely reporting to the company that customers had returned the products. A case was registered against the accused under various sections 316 (4), 318 (4), 344 and 3(5) of BNS and Sections 66 (c) and 66 (d) of the IT Act.
