With 42.4 degrees Celsius, Nagpur city witnessed the hottest day of the season on Monday. Due to scorching summer heat along with hot winds, the roads were deserted in the afternoon throughout the city. On the day of Ram Navami on Sunday, city witnessed the maximum temperature highest with 42.2 degrees Celsius and the very next day it again broke the season’s record. According to India Meteorological Department (IMD), “A low-pressure area lies over central parts of south Bay of Bengal. It is likely to move northwestwards over southwest Bay of Bengal till April 8 and thereafter will likely to move nearly northwards over westcentral Bay of Bengal during subsequent 48 hours.” Similarly, a trough runs from the above cyclonic circulation over southeast Bay of Bengal to south Tamil Nadu across southwest Bay of Bengal in lower tropospheric levels. Another trough runs from East Bihar to North Telangana in lower tropospheric levels. “Due to such weather conditions, gradual rise in maximum temperatures by 2-3°C is likely over many parts of Northwest India, Maharashtra and Central India during next 3 days and fall by 2-4°C during subsequent 2 days,” stated a press note issued by IMD.
