The city is witnessing construction of new roads and concretisation of old roads regularly. The condition of the roads are bad not only in the city but also the peripheral roads of the city are suffering through lack of maintenance. The Old Kamptee Road is largely used by commuters from Kamptee and neighbouring areas to Kalamna market and also, to reach the city. This city is also used by the transporters from Kalamna market. The heavy traffic on this road has resulted in the damage of the road, resulting in potholes at various places through the length of the road. The problem of potholes on the road is worst on the stretch of road between Reliance petrol pump near outer ring road and Sable lawn.

 

The stretch of road, nearly 300 metres in length, has many potholes that makes travel on this a difficult task. The single lane road means that the commuter are forced to come in the path of vehicles arriving from the opposite side in order to avoid the potholes, which have caused several accidents on the spot. These accidents, even though, have not resulted in loss of life yet, the possibility of it remains till the road is repaired. The perilous state of the Old Kamptee Road, especially the heavily trafficked section near the outer ring road, necessitates immediate action. The current pothole-ridden condition forces dangerous driving on part of commuters, and has already led to multiple accidents, highlighting a clear and present danger to public safety that cannot be ignored.
