Amid a sharp fall in oil prices in the international markets, Government on Monday increased the Excise Duty on petrol and diesel by Rs 2 per litre each. However, there will be no change in retail prices for the general public.
Amit Gupta, President of the Vidarbha Petroleum Dealers Association (VPDA) told ‘The Hitavada’ that the there will be no impact of hike in Excise Duty on the fuel prices. Petrol price will remain same at Rs 104.02 per liter while diesel will continue its price tag of Rs 90.59 per liter in the city.
On the other hand, domestic category LPG consumers will have to shell out Rs 50 extra per 14.2 kg cylinder as the oil marketing companies hiked the prices.
The domestic category cylinder that was available at a price of Rs 854.50 will now be sold at a price of Rs 904.5.
The new prices will come into effect from April 8 and affect both Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) beneficiaries and non-Ujjwala domestic consumers.
