Sitabuldi Police have registered a case against eight persons for defrauding The Dharampeth Mahila Multistate Co-op Society Ltd of Rs 1.20 crore. The accused allegedly conspired to sell mortgaged agricultural land to a buyer, using forged documents. The accused have been identified as Dudharam Lodkuji Sawwalakhe, a resident of Gajanan Nagar, Omkar Nagar; Pranita Dudharam Sawwalakhe; Ranjit Natthusingh Naukaria; Meera Natthusingh Naukaria; Manisha Ranjit Naukaria; Jagdish Naukaria, all residents of Subhedar Layout, Uday Nagar, Hudkeshwar; and Dhananjay Jaywant Barokar, a resident of Aath Rasta Chowk, Laxmi Nagar. According to the police, the accused mortgaged the agricultural land with the society, with Pranita, Ranjit, and Meera taking loans of Rs 40 lakh each in their names.
 
The remaining accused signed as witnesses. The accused later sold the land to Veeraswami Vyankateshwarrrao Konabatula and notarised the transaction. The fraudulent deal came to light when officials at the society became aware of the sale. A complaint was filed by Pramod Gavai (50), a resident of Nandanvan Colony, prompting the police to take action. A case has been registered under Sections 420, 406, and 34 of the Indian Penal Code.
