Two employees of a gas agency based in Civil Lines have been arrested for illegally siphoning LPG gas from domestic cylinders and transferring it into smaller commercial cylinders for resale. For months, the duo were delivering domestic gas cylinders to households with around 2 kg less gas in each cylinder than what was originally filled to make a profit. The scam was brought to light when Kapil Nagar Police arrested the two employees and uncovered a large-scale LPG theft. The accused, Mohan Singh Jagdish Singh (24) and Vishnu Kumar Kuldeep Singh Rehar (22), both residents of Silawat, district Dholpur, Rajasthan, were caught red-handed by the police on Tuesday. Currently, the accused were staying at Nari Road in Kapil Nagar area. According to the police, the two worked at a domestic gas agency in Civil Lines.
 
They had been using a specialised nozzle to siphon 2 kilograms of LPG from each domestic cylinder. This gas was then transferred into smaller commercial cylinders, which could be sold at a higher price on the black market. The illegal activity was causing financial losses to many consumers. The police raided the location and seized 17 HP gas cylinders, 7 Bharat Gas cylinders and one Indage Gas cylinder and equipment, including nozzles and a weighing scale. The police stated that the total value of the seized goods amounts to Rs 3,76,700. Both Singh and Rehar have been charged under various sections Essential Commodities Act and the Liquid Petroleum Gas Regulation Act. They are currently in police custody. Further investigations are underway.
