Staff Reporter :

The issue of shifting of freedom fighter Chandrashekar Azad’s bust has attracted criticism not only from Mayor Alok Sharma but also from the great grandson of Azad, Amit Azad. On Wednesday, Amit Azad along with Mayor Alok Sharma registered his protest over shifting of Chandrashekar Azad’s bust in strong words. On this occasion, Mayor Alok Sharma said that bust of Chandrashekar has been removed on behest of Congress Government and in its place, statue of former CM Arjun Singh has been installed.

He accused Congress Government led by Kamal Nath of neglecting freedom fighters regularly. He also said that in Bhopal Municipal Corporation, BJP is having the Mayor in Council but it was not consulted and BMC officials on behalf of Congress Government removed the bust of Chandrashekar Azad and shifted it elsewhere. If Government does not resolve the issue within 48 hours then he threatened to sit on hunger strike.

Earlier, Amit Azad along with Mayor Alok Sharma reached the place where bust of Chandrashekar Azad has been reinstalled and washed it with water. Mayor held the bucket of water in his hands while Amit Azad poured water. While interacting with mediapersons, Amit Azad thanked Mayor Alok Sharma for supporting his fight. On this occasion BJP District President Vikas Virani was also present.
