To bring awareness about organic farming in the society, an ‘Organic Haat’ was organised on Sunday at Gandhi Bhavan Trust Bhopal. The event was aimed at promoting organic food products in the society. For this, farmers from different areas of Madhya Pradesh were present who also shared their experiments on organic agriculture.
Environmentalist Vandana Shiva was present as special guest. Addressing the gathering, she said that organic farming is important for society and farmers can increase their income by doing more organic farming in less space. More focus should be given on organic farming training, she said. The programme started at around 10 am, ‘Mahila Shakti Ki Sunwai’ was discussed, in which women from different fields shared their experiences.
This was followed by discussion on Bhopal Gas tragedy and tribute paid to late Abdul Jabbar, who fought for the rights of gas victims, was also held as a part of programme. A poetry session was also held as a part of the programme. The program will be organised under the joint aegis of Navdhanya, Jai Jagat 2020, Anant Mandi, Gandhi Bhavan Bhopal, Bhopal Gas Peddit Mahila Udygog Sangthan.
