Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has reiterated that the farmers in the state should not worry as the state government is committed to procure every grain of paddy. Farmers will also get timely payment against their paddy crop. He called upon the farmers to keep away from rumours being spread on paddy procurement. On the directive of the Chief Minister, Chief Secretary R P Mandal visited various paddy procurement centers in bordering areas as well as in Rajnandgaon, Janjgir-Champa, Bilaspur, Mungeli, Kawardha, etc. Chief Secretary R P Mandal conducted sudden inspection of paddy procurement centres in marginalised areas of the state today morning.

He commenced inspection from paddy procurement centres in Chirchari of Ranandgaon district, Rengakhar of Kawardha district, Pandarbhatta of Mungeli district, Kota-Piparsarai-Bharai-Nevra of Bilaspur district, and Charpara of Jangir-Champa district. Meanwhile, the Chief Secretary took necessary information about the arrangements done at the paddy procurement centres for the convenience of farmers arriving to sell paddy. He has appealed farmers to be assured of the fact that paddy is being procured from farmers at Rs 2500 per quintal and payment is being directly transferred into the bank accounts of the farmers.

They should not get misled by any rumour and confidently sell their paddy at procurement centres. While inspecting the procurement process, Mandal checked the weights and the weighing scales and also the quality of paddy. During the inspection, Mandal gave clear instructions to SDOs of Revenue Department, Food Officials, Tehsildars and Committee Managers to ensure that the farmers coming to sell their paddy should not face any inconvenience at the centre. He also gave instructions to continuously monitor the procurement process to avoid paddy procurement from middlemen and brokers. Strict action should be taken against the illegal transport of paddy from across the state borders. During the inspection, Secretary (Food) Dr Kamalpreet Singh and Managing Director State Marketing Federation Shammi Abidi were also present along with the Chief Secretary.
