220/132 KV substation at center of BSP Township for sparing power co of Rs 3 cr annual line-loss

 

 

CHHATTISGARH State Power Distribution Company Limited (CSPDCL) requires land for setting up 220/132 KV power substation at the center of Bhilai Steel Plant (BSP) Township for sparing the power company of estimated Rs 3 crore of annual line-loss. The authorities from CSPDCL and the power companies concerned are fast reviewing all details to finalise the blueprint of infrastructure to be set up for taking over power supply of BSP Township.

 

In the course of meetings and various negotiations for taking over power supply from Township Electrical Engineering Department (TEED) of BSP, CSPDCL authorities put forth the requisition of land at the centre in BSP Township for 220/132 KV power Substation. The sources said that land at the center would spare the power company of line-loss worth over Rs 3 crore annually. It will also be in larger interest of power consumers across the region and adjoining parts of other regions of the power company as it would facilitate the officials with alternative provisions for undertaking repair works in case of breakdown or emergency.

 

Recently the joint team of BSP and power companies had inspected the land earmarked for setting up 132/33 KV and 220/132 KV power substations in BSP Township behind Newai Police Station in Newaibhata, Bhilai. The sources said that according to power company authorities the land for the substation at Newaibhata would hardly be feasible in comparison of the land for same at the center in BSP Township. Besides, it would also enable the power company officials for proper installation of power supply lines. The sources also said that the power company requires land for the power substation behind Jayati Stadium, Bhilai.

 

The sources said that with BSP seeking final approval for land sanction and payment of cost for setting up infrastructure, the authorities from Sate power companies would finally take over the power supply of BSP Township. As part of measures prior to take over power supply of BSP Township the power company would set up an entirely new infrastructure and pressed into services a conventional power supply system unlike TEED, the licensee of the power company. As per the sources power supply system in BSP Township is for operating factory machines and other such equipments in the plant. The power supply system in BSP Township is unconventional one and there always prevails possibility of voltage fluctuations and other such issues.
