Nagpur Smart City chosen for Safe and Smart City Project award

Nagpur Safe and Smart City Project’ of Nagpur Smart and Sustainable City Development Corporation Limited (NSSCDCL) is selected for award in the category of ‘Best Smart Safe City Project’ by Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA).

It may be mentioned that Nagpur Safe and Smart City Project was implemented through convergence with Director of Information Technology, Government of Maharashtra. NSSCDCL has laid around 1050 kms of optical cable network to ensure better connectivity and Smart City has installed 3500 CCTVs at 671 junctions across the city. For citizens free WiFi HotSpots is available at 141 locations with 877 access points.
 
The City Operation Centre is situated at administrative building of Nagpur Municipal Corporation while City Command and Control Centre is under constructions. Nagpur Smart city has also replaced 1,36,000 street lights with LED smart lights all over the city. The Smart City has also installed 10 environment sensors to monitor the pollution level and GPS installed at 227 buses to give real time update to the commuters. The 77 bus stops are working as smart bus stops for the benefit of the passengers. The Smart City has 10 smart junctions for easy flow of traffic at smart strip of 5.6 kms between Japanese garden to Khamla road.
 
MoHUA has embarked upon one of the most ambitious programme for renaissance for rejuvenating and transforming Indian cities through several initiatives for creation of 100 smart cities in the country.
 
The project of Nagpur Safe and Smart City Project was conceptualised by then Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis for the safety of Nagpurians. He had initiated this project much before inclusion of Nagpur as Smart City by the MoHUA. This project is also helpful for police to detect and control the crime in the city.
