Dr Glen Martin, President of World Constitution and Parliament Association (WCPA) Global was interacting with media persons on Wednesday
“As sovereign nations are engaged in arms race, citizens themselves have to initiate a movement to save planet earth from the imminent disaster,” said Dr Glen Martin, President of World Constitution and Parliament Association (WCPA) Global. “Time is ticking for saving environment, and nations are yet to find a solution to phasing out fossil fuel. Even scientists continue warning all about catastrophe if nothing is done on environment front.
WCPA is a practical reality that globe needs today,” Dr Martin asserted while interacting with newspersons in city on Thursday. Expressing great concern over inaction on the part of many nations on environment front, he said, “Time and again there are example that collective efforts did pay rich dividends and they are needed in urgency today. As to India connection, Mahatma Gandhi and Aurobindo have in past stressed on world union and hence its imperative people here believe in wisdom of these great leaders.” Outlining the idea, he said, “The world council be a three-tier body with first being House of People, House of Councillors and House of Nations. While first would comprise 1,000 people from all over the world the second one would have membership of 200 eminent personalities from all corners of the world.
The arrangements would run as per United Nations charter but with greater stress on environment and right to peace. “The world system would be driven by human interest and nation interest would take a back seat. There would not be population-based representation but WCPA believes in equal seats to each nation to avoid favour to any particular group,” Dr Martin said. Dr Martin was accompanied on India tour by wife Phyllis Martis, Treasurer of WCPA, USA. Dr Ushoshi Guha and Adv. Omkar Deshpande, were their hosts in city.
