The country has been taken a back by the shocking incident of gangrape and brutal murder of a female veterinary doctor in Telangana. Now voices are pouring in from all corners that strict punishment should be meted to tormentors of victim. Even women politician from Madhya Pradesh have also joined the chorus. ‘The Hitavada’ talked to number of female politicians (MLAs) and most of them demanded gallows to rapists.

Nandini Maravi, MLA from Sehora constituency, says “There should be strict law and order to ensure safety of female. Our girls are now feeling unsafe alone at road. Government is campaigning to promote education and development of girl child while on the other girls are facing violence and brutal rape. Only strict punishment can curb this menace. Government should create a kind of fear among the culprits.
 
Meena Singh, MLA from Jaitpur constituency, says “Our Government makes law but does not ensure implementation properly. Government should make strict law after detailed discussion with subject experts and impose the rule strictly to control crime. Currently, situation of women is worse in our State as well as country. Rape, brutal murder, domestic violence, etc have become common news every day.”

Minister Vijayalaxmi Sadho, says “Government is already doing a lot and rules are being drafted every day but on ground-level many people are not fulfilling their responsibilities. People should bring honesty in their duty. Public participation in our system should be strong and people should understand their moral responsibility towards the society. People should change their mind towards women and understand that all women are equally important for their family. They are mother, sister and daughter of family.

Chandrabhaga Kirade, MLA from Pansemal, says “There is no doubt that crime against women is rising everyday and it seems that people have no fear of law and order. Rape and murder culprits should be hanged on the spot and there should be no relaxation in punishment of such criminals. Police need to be more alert and control the crime by creating fear among people.”

Malini Gaur, Indore Mayor, says “For past few years criminal activities have been increased. Especially, in Indore, rape, murder, dacoity, etc has not limit. There is urgent need to control the crime with strict punishment to the culprits.Government should do a research on law and order of other countries to threaten the rapist and murderer.”

Usha Thakur, MLA from Mhow, says “Government should give a spiritual kind of training to people where they understand the difference between good deeds and sin. There should be Nasha Mukti campaign in State. Many people sleep under the bridges and streets as they do not have house. Government should provide Rain-Basera to such people. People belonging to poor family do not have fund to get education and personality development. Government should set up ashram for such children where they get educated and become a responsible person for society and nation.”

Sumitra Devi Kasdekar, MLA from Nepanagar, says “Apart from Government, people should also understand their responsibility towards the society. It seems there are no emotions and moral values among people as they do not understand the pain of woman. It is not possible to rise the generation without a woman in family. Government should be come up with unique law and order to stop people from such heinous crime against women.”
