The senior officers of Revenue Department and Police Department held an inter-state co-ordination meeting regarding strict enforcement of Model Code of Conduct for Lok Sabha elections. It was decided in the meeting to take various measures including 24x7 vigil on Maharashtra-Madhya Pradesh (MP) border in Nagpur and Amravati districts. G K Pathak, Director General of Police, Madhya Pradesh; Shrikant Tarwade, Inspector General of Police, Amravati Division, Maharashtra; Shriniwas Sharma, District Collector, Chhindwara; Ashwin Mudgal, District Collector, Nagpur; Rakesh Ola, Superintendent of Police, Nagpur Rural; Dilip Zalke, Superintendent of Police, Amravati district; Manoj Rai, Superintendent of Police, Chhindwara district, and other senior officers concerned attended the co-ordination meeting, which was held at Saunsar. The officers discussed various measures to be taken for effective enforcement of Model Code of Conduct for Lok Sabha elections.

 

 

The officers decided that that vigil along Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh border should be increased to stop illegal flow of liquor, money, and unauthorised transport. “The borders of Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh both will be sealed on the date of polling -- April 11, and stringent action will be taken against those engaged in illegal transport and smuggling,” said Mudgal. Also, special squads will be posted in border areas for round-the-clock vigil. The said vigil will be in effect from April 8 to April 11 in Nagpur and Amravati districts, and around April 29 in Chhindwara district. The officers of both the States agreed to initiate tough action against anti-social elements. Both the States will co-ordinate with each other and take action against history-sheeters and criminals.

 

 

 

Patrolling will be intensified in case of roads passing through areas under the jurisdiction of Forest Department. State Excise Department also will keep a watch on inter-State check-posts. Patrolling and checking of vehicles will be done in Kelwad, Chironji, and Khursapar in Saoner tehsil. Inspection squads will be deployed at Kolitmara in Ramtek tehsil, Manegaon Tek in Jabalpur, Bhandarbodi in Bhandara, Umrikala in Katol, Rajura, Langa-Karwar-Pimplakotha and Wadchitoli (Chaurkhawari). Kavita Badla, Additional Collector, Chhindwara; Shashank Garg, Additional Superintendent of Police; Jogendra Katyare, Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO), Ramtek; Sanjay Pawar, SDO, Saoner; Shrikant Umbarkar, SDO, Katol, and other officers also attended the co-ordination meeting.
