Despite high temperature, Nagpur experienced scattered pre-monsoon rains on Thursday. Cloudy sky gave a relief to citizens in the evening and many places observed rains. Places like Mankapur, Sadar, Automotive Square, Sitabuldi, Narendra Nagar experienced rains while Manewada, Mhalgi Nagar, Trimurti Nagar, Jaitala were dry.
This time, South West Monsoon 2019 is delayed by a week in Vidarbha and Nagpur. The monsoon is likely to hit Vidarbha in couple of days and Nagpur will also likely to get rains on the same date. On Thursday, Nagpur recorded the maximum temperature of 40.6 degree Celsius while Bramhapuri (42.3), Chandrapur (42.0) and Wardha (42.0) touched the 42 degree mark. Places like Akola (38.1), Amravati (38.0), Buldhana (36.5), Gadchiroli (39.2), Washim (37.6) and Yavatmal (39.8) recorded below 40 degree Celsius on Thursday.
The Northern Limit of monsoon is passing through Ratnagiri, Kolhapur, on the West Coast and central side and merely Shimoga, Salem, Cuddalore in the Peninsular region and covering Kolkata, Gangtok on the eastern side. As of now, monsoon is advancing along the west coast, as the NLM did pass from Kochi first, then Mangaluru, and now Ratnagairi, further moving to Kolhapur. However, now a fresh low pressure area will result in the advancement of Monsoon over a bigger chunk including interior regions of Telangana and most parts of Maharashtra including Nagpur, Vidarbha, Mumbai.
