Youths should embrace simplicity of Mahatma Gandhi: TN Governor

10th convocation ceremony of Datta Meghe Institute of Medical Sciences held at Sawangi (Meghe)
“Youths are nation’s strength. They have their dreams. They have their own thoughts. They mould the society as per their dreams and help the country prosper. Today, we have pledged to serve the society through medical education and provide health services to the needy. While doing so, youths should always embrace simplicity of Mahatma Gandhi and fulfill their dreams,” urged Tamil Nadu Governor Banwarilal Purohit. Purohit was addressing the gathering at the 10th convocation ceremony of Datta Meghe Institute of Medical Sciences (DMIMS) (Deemed to be University), Sawangi (Meghe) on Tuesday.

The programme was held at DMIMS hall. Dr Rajiv Borle, Vice-Chancellor, DMIMS; Sagar Meghe, Member of Board of Management, Dr Satish Deopujari, Dr Neelima Mishra, Pro-Vice Chancellor; Dr S S Patel, Dr A J Anjankar, Registrar; Dr Abhay Mude, Dean (Medicine); Dr Lalit Waghmare, Dr Sudhirendra Baliga, Dean (Dental); Dr Shyam Bhutada, Dean (Ayurved); Dr Seema Singh, Dean (Nursing); Ravi Meghe, Dr D K Agrawal, Dr Gaurav Mishra, Dr Alok Ghosh, Dr Minal Choudhary, Dr Sunita Wagh, Dr Trupti Dehane, Dr K K Singh, Dr Preeti Desai, Dr Vaishali Taksande, Dr Pradnya Nikhade, Dr M Irshad, Dr Sunita Shrivastav, Dr Adarshlata Singh, Brajesh Lohiya were prominently present on the occasion. Banwarilal Purohit honoured the students for their outstanding performance.
Datta Meghe, Chancellor, administered pledge of health service to 716 students of Ayurvigyan. Akshada Sharma (Medicine) bagged the highest number of awards during the convocation ceremony. She received 8 gold medals and three cash prizes. The other students who were presented medals include Shyamolima Bhuyan (5 gold medals and one cash prize), Sharanya Rai (3 gold medals and cash prize), Sushma S (2 gold medals and 2 silver medals), Priyal Mundhada (2 gold medals). Dr Amil Dafale (M D Medicine) bagged 7 gold medals while Dr Vivek Sinha (MD Surgery) scored 4 gold medals. Rozina Sheikh Raza (Ayurved) was presented 3 gold medals, 1 silver medal along with cash prize. Megha Agrawal (Dental) received 3 gold medals.
The Governor felicitated Dr Vedprakash Mishra, Chancellor, Krishna Institute of Medical Sciences Deemed University, Karad, for his valuable contribution in the fields of education and health. In all, 342 students of Medicine, 159 of Dental (Ph D, MD, MS, graduate, post graduate), 71 of Ayurved, 137 of Nursing, 7 of Paramedical were administered pledge of health services. Total 76 students received gold medals and 7 silver medals for their brilliant performance while 13 Chancellor Award and cash prizes were presented during the convocation ceremony. Among them 35 students were given fellowship. Total 74 students of Medicines, Dental, Ayurved, Paramedical and Nursing were honoured with awards and 13 students were presented Ph D degree. Dr Trupti Waghmare, Dr Naznin Qazi and Dr Samal Shukla conducted the proceedings of the programme. Sanjana Basu presented Pasaydan. The programme started and concluded with national anthem. Prominent personalities, student and parents were prominently present at the convocation ceremony.
