Form SIT to probe IPS Rahul Sharma’s suicide: Dr Uniyal urges CM Baghel

16 Stirring a hornet’s nest, Dr Chayanika Uniyal, All India Women Congress (AIWC) Secretary, during her visit on Tuesday, tweeted Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel to constitute a Special Investigation Team (SIT) for probing the suicide of the then Bilaspur Superintendent Police and IPS officer Rahul Sharma. Dr Uniyal visited Raipur to attend a meeting of Rajiv Gandhi Study Circle Congress (RGSC) during which she made an appeal to Chief Minister to probe the entire matter afresh to ensure justice for Late Rahul Sharma. Her tweet saw the most retweets from #JusticeForRahulSharma – a widely-popular social media forum that had been fighting and demanding since very long for meting out justice for IPS Sharma, who committed suicide by shooting self with his service firearm.
“My heart feels the heavy weight of my emotional fallout after the topic of my friend Rahul Sharma and his tragic death randomly cropped up during my Raipur visit. I truly feel that justice is yet to be delivered to him,” read the tweet of Dr Uniyal, who is also a writer and In-Charge of AICC Research Wing. Her tweet to Chief Minister @bhupeshbaghel urged him to form a SIT and assist #JusticeForRahulSharma in delivering justice. “It is still beyond any sensible level of comprehension that could explain the drastic decision of IPS officer Rahul Sharma to end his life and it raised several doubts, over which if impartial probe is conducted, would be a true tribute to him,” she maintained. Immediately after this tweet, twitter handle of Dr Uniyal and Chief Minister got several replies and re-tweets.
Hereafter, almost every web-portals and Whatsapp groups were running viral with the new links of Dr Uniyal’s tweet, which also drew attention of several other politicians and bureaucrats. It may be recalled that the bereaved family members of Late Rahul Sharma had held a senior IPS officer of State Police responsible for abetting the Rahul Sharma to commit suicide. Earlier, according to some politicos, the Central Bureau Investigation (CBI) had also carried out a probe into the matter, but the premiere investigation agency apparently failed to deliver justice for the deceased officer Rahul Sharma, who had served the State Police on several key capacities in Chhattisgarh
