Bargi dam’s 9 gates closed due to incessant rain

Following the increased water level of Bargi Dam, security arrangements have been made with deployment of police team to avoid any kind of untoward incident into the flooded river 
 
Pointing out stopping the downpour on upstream of river Narmada, water discharging from Rani Avanti Bai Sagar Pariyojana, Bargi Dam was reduced by closing nine of the fifteen gates. Water discharging is continued from six gates and hydel power station upto 945.66 cumec, on Saturday. It may be noted that following the incessant downpour, Bargi Dam authority had opened 15 spillways of Bargi Dam at opening height of 1.46 metre, on August 9.
 
Water level of the reservoir was increased upto 421.60 metre against the peak level of 422.76 metre, on Friday. Executive Engineer of Bargi Dam, Ajay Sure informed that stopping of rains on upstream of the river reduced water in-flow from 4,000 cumec to 700 cumec on Saturday. Following the reducing in-law, water discharging was reduced from 3,265 cumec to 945.66 cumec including 749 cumec from six spillways and 196 cumec from hydel power station.
 
Dam authority is trying to maintain the reservoir level upto 421.50 metre against the peak level of 422.76 metres. Bargi Dam authority may further increase or decrease the water discharging following the downpour in coming days. Along with the water discharging from the gates of reservoir, the hydel power station of Madhya Pradesh Power Generating Company Limited is being operating on its full load capacity of 90 MW. Water discharging from the hydel power project was being carried out at 196 cumec. Water discharging from Bargi Dam emerged as centre of attraction for the residents.
 
Groups of college students and a large number of families enjoyed their weekend by taking a glimpse of rare view of water discharging from Bargi Dam. Besides this, residents also visited several new picturesque water falls on different locations in and around the city. New water falls have been developed following the rising water level of river Narmada. Following the increased water level of Bargi Dam, security arrangements have been made with deployment of police team to avoid any kind of untoward incident into the flooded river.
