Chakravorty was the resource person at the session on ‘Engaging differences for inclusive workforce’. The event was held at Laburnum Hall, Chitnavis Centre, Civil Lines, Nagpur, wherein HR professionals from various organisations
participated.

Saying that mentoring should not be seen within the frame of hierarchy, Chakravorty added that the two-way mentoring would not only strengthen the bond between the management and the employees, but it
would also well connect the later with the organisation.

Expressing his views on engaging workforce, Chakravorty further said that the organisations should develop a strong bond of communication with its people.  “For effective communication, one should share stories with the workforce. And if the stories are based on local incidences or persons, we can achieve higher degree of communication,” he said. Chakravorty also said that many organisations categorise its workforce on various parameters. However, he urged the HR professionals to refrain from painting all the employees in the same colour.

“We have people coming from different backgrounds who think differently. They have different goals and needs in lives and thus same yardstick should not be used for all,” he felt. The speaker also pointed out that the organisation should make its workforce aware of the value chain. “The employees should know what is the company’s goal and its business model. In many organisations, the employees are just given a specific target and he is kept unaware of the end product. It normally happens in Information Technology companies. If the employees are aware of the business model, half of the problems will be solved,” he said.

Highlighting some of the misconceptions in HR sector, Chakravorty said, it is not correct to say that education is equal to learning. “Learning can come from any corner. One may learn from anyone. We can even learn many things from a gardener or a security person,” he added.

On the occasion, the participating HR professionals shared their experiences and discussed various technical issues.
At the outset, Anand Aurangabadkar, President of the Nagpur Chapter of NHRDN, introduced the speaker.persons, we can achieve higher degree of communication,” Chakravorty said
