RTMNU may introduce BScLLB, BBALLB courses Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University is likely to change degree certificates of LLB Five Years course soon. Although the students after completing the five years LLB course have not made fuss over different nomenclature in the degree certificate and the marksheet, so far, only a single student pointed out the different words used by the university. The course has been framed in such a way that the student leaving the course after three years was issued BA degree certificate.

On completion of the five years course the University issues BALLB degree. The marsksheet mentions BALLB, however, the degree certificate terms it as Bachelor of Law - Five Years. Following the student pointing out the anomaly, decision to refer the issue to the Board of Studies and Board of Examinations has been taken. Officiating Pro-V-C of the University Dr Vinayak Deshpande and Officiating Director of Examinations and Evaluation Dr Anil Hirekhan, verified the directions issued by the Vice-Chancellor in this connection. Direction Number 32 speaks about the BALLB nomenclature.

The changes will be made and the University may be required to print fresh degree certificates and issue them to the students, who have passed the examination for the last several years. The University has also provision for starting BScLLB, BBALLB degree courses, for students opting to study laws relating to science and laws relating to business management/ administration. However, no college has opted for these degree courses so far. The BALLB degree course is for students who wish to study laws and related courses under Humanities Faculty. Options or other legal study in other faculties is open for the affiliated colleges to start. BScLLB and BBALLB degree courses are being conducted in some other universities in Maharashtra.
