SHILPA Agarwal has done it again. This time the fitness enthusiast has achieved a new milestone by becoming the brand ambassador for ‘Fit India’ campaign. The industrialist and Mrs Universe Lovely winner has been awarded with the prestigious ‘Fit India Campaign Brand Ambassador’ which is a part of ‘Fit India’ movement programme that was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on National Sports Day (August 29). “I was very happy when Modiji launched the ‘Fit India’ campaign along with the slogan ‘Hum fit to India fit’ as it was my burning desire to actively contribute to the Fit India movement,” Shilpa told ‘The Hitavada’. Shilpa came first among 30 women finalists in the race to become brand ambassador of the ‘Fit India Movement’.
The contest was organised by the FSSA (Fitness and Sports Science Association), one the recognised and accredited fitness training organisations by Government of India. Several fitness enthusiast, gym trainers and fitness expert took part in this race to become the new face/ambassador of the movement”. Thirty women candidates were selected for final held at Gurugram from September 6 to 8. Candidates had to perform challenging exercises like yoga push-up, pilates, bench press, deadlift, squats and marks were allotted for each pose/exercise.
The selection process was not just limited to the physical attributes of the candidate but also involved questionnaire rounds and interviews which would judge the contestant’s presence of mind, knowledge regarding health and nutrition. Shilpa was selected over other candidates not because of her passion for fitness but because of her inspirational journey from being an obese child, a school dropout, a suicide survivor to a leading business woman and also a Mrs India Globe winner. “For me it is a dream come true because I like both fitness and traveling.
To get a chance to motivate women of all ages to take up fitness and nutrition seriously that too while traveling all across India is something which I always desired,” Shilpa said. Looking after family, raising children, taking care of the business endorsements, meeting new people seems quite a difficult challenge for any woman. But Shilpa has managed to pull off everything without much effort. “Business is all about learning the art of management, I have a settled business I don’t have to be physically present nor I have to constantly look into it. For me it is not a question of how am I going to do this, I know I am going to do this once I enter into it,” she opined.
Shilpa is looking forward to the new assignment as it is a combination of her passion and desire. “I mean I am literally getting a chance to serve the women of this nation. Helping other women by educating them about fitness will give me a sense of immense satisfaction,” she said. “Initially it might be difficult for a year so but then that is a challenge and I like to take challenges,’ Shilpa signed off.
