JCC(J) protests Amit Jogi’s arrest

Hundreds of party workers from Janta Congress Chhattisgarh (J) proceeded towards the official residence of Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel from Sagaon Bangla - residence of Ajit Jogi - with an intention to gherao it, but were stopped mid-way by heavy contingent of police personnel. Large numbers of JCC (J) party workers from its Raipur urban/rural unit proceeded towards the official residence of Chief Minister at around 4 pm amidst shouting of slogans to release JCC (J) President Amit Jogi with immediate affect. Amit Jogi and Ajit Jogi, both had alleged that the Chief Minister is playing ‘Badlapur’ politics.
On Wednesday also the JCC(J) party workers while alleging that the action was taken against Amit Jogi because of political enmity, against which the party is carrying out state-wide demonstrations and burning of Chief Minister’s effigy. Opposing the action, large number of JCC(J) workers, first accumulated at Sagon Bangla, from where they proceeded towards the official residence of Chief Minister while passing through Netaji chowk. All party workers were donning mask of Amit Jogi and were carrying posters. However, the police contingent stopped them from proceeding towards Chief Minister’s official residence midway. They threatened that if Amit Jogi is not released immediately, the party would launch state-wide fierce agitations. Those present during the CM House gherao were Mahesh Dewangan, Rahil Raufi, Amin Khan, Ganjendra Chauhan, Jeevan Lal Sonwani, Vikram Netam, etc.
“JCC(J) workers heading towards CM House were prevented at Shaheed Suresh Mishra Chowk in Katora Talab area. As a preventive measure, around 139 JCC(J) workers, including five women, were arrested by police under preventive Sections and they were later released unconditionally,” said Civil Lines CSP Trilok Bansal. Bansal added that elaborate security arrangements were made to avert any untoward incident and all the thoroughfares heading towards CM House were barricaded. The protestors marched through Sagaon Bungalow, carrying placards/ banners in their hands and raising slogans against State Government and Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel.
