“JABALPUR will soon start getting shape as Smart City with development of advanced infrastructure and civic amenities. Overall development of the State will be carried out with visionary approach of Chief Minister Kamal Nath. Construction of three new flyovers will be started soon in the city. Narmada Samruddhi Corridor will add new attraction to the city. Hanumantal and Ranital ponds will be developed and renovated and Jabalpur will be the first city where Smart Gaushala will be established,” informed Jaivardhan Singh, State Minister for Urban Development, while addressing a press conference on Friday.

Addressing the press conference, Minister Priyavrat Singh informed that he along with Urban Development Minister Jaivardhan Singh, Social Justice Minister Lakhan Ghanghoria, Mayor and MLAs held detailed discussion on ongoing works of Jabalpur Smart City Project.
They reviewed development of roads, improving water supply, water-logging problem, systematic development of Omti and Moti nullah and discussed several other development works.
He informed that shrinking width of Omti and Moti nullah is the main reason behind increasing water-logging in the city. The project will be reviewed and inquiry will be carried out into the project.
In the meeting, senior officers werye directed to solve existing problems in door-to-door garbage collection to ensure supply of 600 metric tonnes of solid waste for smooth operation of waste to energy plant. He informed that around 2,300 families affected due to water-logging have been listed for compensation. New DPR will be prepared soon for systematic development of Omti and Moti nullah. Jaivardhan Singh further informed that an advanced shopping complex, a mall and adequate facilities for vegetable traders will be developed at Niwarganj Mandi. Its DPR has been prepared with a budget of Rs 90 crore.
A conference of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan will be organised in Jabalpur on September 13 to prepare a consolidated report to develop big cities on lines of Indore. Problem of street animals is another major challenge in the State and a Special Task Force has been constituted for systematic piggery farming and solving problem of street dogs. He added that especially, State’s first Smart Gaushala will be established in Jabalpur at 29-acres land. JMC will sign MoU between NGOs for better operation of Smart Gaushala with a capacity of around 4,000 cows. Social Justice Minister Lakhan Ghanghoria informed that the State Government had sanctioned development projects worth Rs 228 crore in its first Cabinet meeting and construction of three flyovers from Chhoti Line Phatak to Old Bus Stand, Rampur Square to Gwarighat and Ambedkar Chowk to Abdul Hameed Chowk, Raddi Chowki will be started soon. Ghanghoria said that around 300-350 untimely deaths were reported in the city due to swine flu, dengue, bird flu and Langda Bukhar but combined efforts of Health Department and JMC checked the menace this year.
