Regional Laboratory of Vigilance and Quality Control Circle of Public Works Department (PWD) Nagpur office has become the first in State to bag prestigious National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL) accreditation. The accreditation is prestigious moment for PWD's Nagpur Circle as it puts seal of approval on its testing techniques and technical parameters and it also means they match with international practices.
 
The Regional Laboratory is tasked with testing the construction material and based on its report the PWD certifies quality of works contracted by it at various places. The testing also ensures maintenance of quality in construction of infrastructure projects. At Nagpur the Regional Laboratory of Vigilance and Quality Control Circle as established in year 1979 and it has received ISO 17025-2017 certification. As per NABL standards, the laboratory tests cubes of concrete used in construction, comprehensive strength, steel bar and bitumen undergoes rigorous testing as per set standards.
 
Another salient point about the lab is that apart from conducting tests, it also accepts fees through on-line process that is more convenient for parties. For testing the building construction the laboratory has installed latest machines and Skada technology and for testing of concrete (cube) CTM, for checking parameters of steel bars-UTM and in case of bitumen testing Viscometer are used. The latest machines and technology in use ensures accurate report helping the field units to act accordingly.
 
The Circle is headed by Dr Nitin Tongaoker, Superintending Engineer, and under his guidance the laboratory has maintained its efficiency and standards enabling its to stand rigorous examination by the board that provides NABL accreditation. Ulhas Debadwar, Chief Engineer, PWD, Nagpur Division, has congratulated the officers and engineers working with Vigilance and Quality Assurance Control Circle on getting prestigious NABL accreditation for the Regional Lab. Pragati Mate-Naik, In-charge, is overseeing the working of lab while Pullarwar Bhale, Pusdekar, Mohod, Mrs Lonare and technical staff Buddhe, Patil, Gedam, Mrs Madavi worked hard for the award. Kranti Dharkar of Shreyas Quality Management System and Lakhe, Management Advisor, M Navid also helped train the staff in achieving the rank.
