The 71th Republic Day was celebrated with great national fervour and zeal in the district, on Sunday. The main R Day programme was organized at Pt Ravi Shankar Shukla Stadium. Chief guest and State Finance Minister, Tarun Bhanot unfurled the National Flag and inspected parade. The State Minister accompanied with Collector, Bharat Yadav and Superintendent of Police, Amit Singh inspected the parade. Later, he read out Chief Minister's message to people of Madhya Pradesh. On the occasion, Armed Forces fire in the air and Police Band played National Anthem. Later, the Chief Guest released tri-colour balloons in the sky. Cadets of 6th battalion of SAF, District Police Force (Man and Women), Home Guard, Navel Unit of National Cadet Core, Senior and Junior division of National Cadet Core, Scout, Guide, Shahar Evam Gram Raksha Samiti, Traffic Warden took out excellent march past. Reserve Inspector, Saurabh Tiwari led the march past while Akhilesh Kushwaha was the Deputy Commander of the parade.
The chief guest and State Minister, Tarun Bhanot took introduction from Parade Commanders. He also felicitated freedom fighters by presenting them shawl and shreephal. On the occasion, Kala Pathak Dal sang Madhya Pradesh Gaan. Students of various schools also presented cultural and colourful programmes. All cultural teams of students were felicitated and awarded. Besides, attractive tableaux showcasing the development activities in the district were also taken out during the main the programme.
Officials of various departments were also honoured for their excellent works. Students of various schools including Divisional Bal Bhavan, Maharani Laxmi Bai Girls Higher Secondary School, Jawahar Navoday Vidyalaya, Bargi, Government Eklavya Gurukul Residential School, L N Yadav School, Ranjhi presented cultural programmes. Later, Tableaux were taken out by various departments including District Trade and Industry Centre, Agriculture Department, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Central Jail, Subhadra Kumari Chouhan Open Jail, Jabalpur Municipal Corporation, Public Health Engineer, Public Health, District Panchayat, Education Department, Woman and Child Development Department and Forest Department. The tableaux of District Panchayat was given first prize, second prize was given to Agriculture Department and third prize was awarded to the tableaux of Health Department.
Later, as per the tradition the Chief Guest awarded the educational institutions presented cultural programme. The State Minister thereafter gave first prize to Home Guard for best march past, second prize to 6th Battallion of SAF and third prize to District Police (women). Likewise, Senior NCC Senior boys, NCC Navel wing and Band team of 6th Batallion of SAF were given first, second and third prize respectively. On the occasion, Bhanot also felicitated and presented certificate to citizens who have been working in the field of social service and senior officials and employees for their excellent works. Amongst those also present on the occasion were Divisional Commissioner, Ravindra Kumar Mishra, IG Police, Bhagwat Singh Chouhan, Mayor Swati Godbole, Collector Bharat Yadav, SP Amit Singh, a number of senior administrative officials, public representatives, students, teachers and citizens.
