Journalist of Hindustan Samachar, Manish Kulkarni bagged the Appasaheb Padalkar Puraskar for his achievements. As a part of Vasantik Melawa 2020, a prize distribution function was held on-line. Social worker from Dharni Melghat, Col Sunil Deshpande (Samaj Jyoti Puraskar); Zen Sadavarte, President’s Shaurya Chakra Awardee from Mumbai; were felicitated for their achievements. Meanwhile, Meet Anjankar was given consolation prize.
Earlier, Secretary of Jyestha Nagarik Mahamandal, Vidarbha. Adv Avinash Telang presided over the programme. Sanstha President, Prof Prabhuji Deshpande and social worker Baba Nandanpawar shared the dais. “Senior citizens are the assets for their family members and nation. Therefore, senior citizens in the society should get a status of national asset and monthly honorarium,” demanded Adv Telang. Adv Talang said, “The per capita income of the country should be Rs 1.60 lakh. Each senior citizen in the country should be given a minimum of Rs 10,000 and dearness allowance Rs 500 per month.
This amount should not be recovered from the taxes received from the public. The annual GDP of the Government is Rs 200 lakh crore and 7 percent amount of the total GDP should be spent by the Government on senior citizens. This would help to increase the family income of senior citizens. The country would come out of inflation. The Government should consider positively and take decisions.” The original programme was scheduled on March 23, 2020, but due to coronavirus lockdown, the programme was held on Thursday on-line. All the awards were distributed by visiting their residences.
Vice Chancellor of Sant Gadgebaba Amravati University, Dr Murlidhar Chandekar felicitated Col Sunil Deshpande; Adv Avinash Telang felicitated Manish Kulkarni; Zen Sadavarte would be given award soon as her building has been sealed due to coronavirus. Adv Avinash Telang made introductory remarks. Shilpa Nandanpawar conducted the proceedings.
