The city celebrated the Festival of Light, Diwali, amidst restrictions of COVID 19 protocol as well as restrictions on fireworks with festivity and gaiety. This year following coronavirus pandemic, people enjoyed the festival with their family members and social gatherings were avoided while on virtual platform, people shared greetings and wishes amongst their friends and relatives.
It may be mentioned that following rise in pollution level and lowering air quality, the National Green Tribunal imposed ban with conditions on cities have air quality index near critical mark. The firework was enjoyed by citizen in families while even in temples, and religious points, banks of rivers, ponds and in market areas following police patrolling the assembly of people could not be done while violators were penalized by the police team for violating the regulations of Corona protocol.
As per traditions the worship of Goddess of Prosperity and Wellness, Devi Laxmi and God of Knowledge; Bhagwan Ganesha was observed in houses, shops, factories and temples, on Saturday night as per the mahurat. The houses were decorated with the colorful lights, diyas right from evening. As per tradition people have offered worship and played fireworks despite restrictions, while illuminated the earthen diyas and colorful lights. The fire works market remained busy till late night at different locations.
