Five members of a family met a watery grave at Rahatgarh waterfall in Beena river on Tuesday afternoon. A girl was rescued by locals from drowning. Till the time of filing this report, three bodies were fished out and two still remained untraceable. Katra resident, Nazir along with his wife, four children, a relative and his two children went for picnic to Rahatgarh waterfall on Tuesday afternoon.
 
They reached Rahatgarh in an auto-rickshaw. After a while, Nazir’s wife started cooking food on the banks of the river while Nazir, his relative and some children started taking bath in Beena river. Some chose to stay on the bank with their mother. They were swimming but suddenly started drowning. They screamed for help. Locals rushed to their help and rescued one girl but others drowned. Within moments police reached the spot with team of divers and rescue team.
 
Divers plunged into the river and fished out body of Nazir and two others but two other children remained untraceable. The rescued girl (16) is daughter of Nazir. She was rushed to district hospital. Another relative who drowned was a resident of Silwani. Rahatgarh waterfall on Beena river is situated in dense forest area and is being maintained by Forest Department. Many people from Sagar, Raisen, Vidisha and other neighbouring districts visit this place but frequent accidents have been reported. However no safety measures have been put in place here.
