Increasing number of accidents due to overloading of vehicles mirrors the phony tale of special traffic awareness campaigns in the district. More than 60 persons were injured in three same kind of accidents due to overturning of overloaded pick-up vehicles while ferrying groups of labourers within a week in Chargavan, Belkhera and Katangi areas. Repeated numbers of same kind of accidents is a serious cause of concern for district authorities but no concrete measure has not been taken in this regard for checking overloading of passengers in pick-up vehicles.

It is not for the first time when overloading of pick-up vehicles and loading vehicles is being reported in the district but it is a seasonal practice. A large numbers of labourers are being ferried everyday in commercial vehicles for agricultural works from one to another district and villages. Several accidents are reported every year and a large numbers of labourers are killed, handicapped and injured in these accidents. Even after knowing the fact, district authorities have failed in taking concrete measures for avoiding overloading on commercial vehicles.

Inspector General of Police (Jabalpur Zone), Bhagwat Singh Chouhan took cognizance over the menace and recently released order to Superintendents of Police for taking action against vehicle owners for ferrying labourers in overloaded vehicles but the situation is still unchanged and two more vehicle overturning incidents were reported in last two days causing injuries to 34 labourers.
