Chandrapur Bureau :
CHANDRAPUR,
A serious case of stale and worm-infected food being served to covid-19 patients, at the Covid Care Centre run by administration at Chandrapur Forest Academy, has come to fore. Senior Maharashtra Navnir-aman Sena leader Mandeep Rode has termed such a violation as grossly inappropriate and said that such incidents are life-threatening for the people who are already in grave danger due to covid infection. He demanded strict and swift action against the Food Supplier of the covid care centre. Rode has informed that that facility at Chandrapur Forest Academy is the largest Covid Care Centre in the district and hundreds of corona positive patients are being isolated for 14 days at the centre.
Scores of patients are added to the centre every day. However, the the Food Supplier hired by the Chandrapur Municipal Corporation is providing inferior quality food to the inmates of the center. Recently on November 23, one of the patients discovered worms in the meal provided to him by food supplier of the centre. He immediately shot a live video of the food showing the live worms in the food and also of the entire surrounding of the Covid care centre.
The video went viral on the social media soon after. As the news spread in the premises, many patients discarded their meal and complained to the administration about the sub-standard food. The COVID patients suffering were further aggravated by the administrative apathy and sheer negligence in providing safe and hygienic food.
At a time when the patients need nutritious and healthy food, the negligent attitude of the administration towards food is very dangerous and is only aggravating the suffering of the COVID patients, Rode alleged. Rode further accused of administration of being in connivance with food supply contractor in supplying sub-standard food at the COVID care centre. Earlier too, several complaints have been lodged against the food supply contractor, who belongs to Nagpur. Rode has warned of severe agitation against the apathy of the administration towards the health of the patients.
