Principal Commissioner of Income Tax, Jabalpur, Amrendra Kumar (IRS) informed that to settle pending cases of income tax disputes, the department has initiated ‘Vivad se Vishwas’. The scheme has been brought purely for Income Tax Act. This Act has been enacted on March 17,2020. Under this scheme any income dispute could be settled by opting and paying the tax on disputed income amount. The last date for availing the scheme has been extended by the Ministry of Finance, Government of India upto December 30, 2020. and the requisite tax amount only on that disputed amount in now need to be paid on or before March 31,2021.
The Ministry of Finance after considering the problems being faced and the spread of corona pandemic the date of payment of the tax has been extended, without any extra charge till March 31, 2021. Appeal pending in any forum like CIT (Appeal), ITAT, High Court and Supreme Court on January 31, 20202 can be availed under this scheme. Sole appeal for penalty and interest can also be availed under this scheme, he added. If the appeal has been won in the favour of the tax payer and department has gone into further appeal, to settle that appeal also only 50 per cent of the required tax is to be paid.
To assist the taxpayers Vivad Se Vishwas Facilitation Centre has been established in Aayakar Sewa Kendra, Aayakar Bhawan, Jabalpur with whatsapp no 9406717654. PCIT, Amrendra Kumar added that tax payers who are willing to avail benefit of the the scheme may take advantage of the centre. The centre would help in filing up forms 1 and 2, if required details are brought by the tax payers.
