Raipur, Raipur lad Aman Waheed Khan, Scientist at Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), Ahmedabad, has been selected for pursuing his PhD in Atmospheric Science at Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Delhi. Aman has topped the provisional list of three working professionals who have been selected for the Part Time PhD course, maximum duration of which is five years. Talking to The Hitavada over phone, Aman, elder son of slain police inspector Abdul Waheed Khan who was killed in a naxal encounter in Narayanpur district of Chhattisgarh in 2009, said that his selection for the PhD has been held on the basis of his profile and research experience. Moreover, he had to undergo an interview and clear it for the PhD.
 
“Anyone can apply for the PhD, but selection of candidates depends upon their profile, research work and interview results,” said Aman. An Indian Air Force officer is in the second position of the list. When asked about advantage of the PhD, Aman, who is posted in the Department of Space, said that it would help him in various projects. “Being a subject expert I can work with agencies abroad while staying in India once the PhD is done successfully,” Aman said. The District Prosecution of Officer and proud mother of Aman, Hina Yasmin Khan, and Yasar Waheed Khan, younger brother, expressed happiness over the achievement of Aman who, so far, has successfully completed six years of his service at ISRO. It is worthwhile to mention, Hina Yasmin Khan is penning a book on families affected by naxals, which will soon be released.
