“It is for the first time in independent India that any government has given an open hand to farmers to set and sell their agricultural produce instead of seeking Government’s assistance to get best price of their production. Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Government has introduced three new bills to bring revolutionary changes in the agriculture sector to double the income of farmers and making agriculture a profitable business in the country,” said Ajay Vishnoi, MLA, Patan, while addressing a press conference, on Monday.

MLA Vishnoi informed that instead of appraising the long awaited laws, some political parties and trouble makers are trying to misguide the farmers to provoke them against the Government. He charged that the political parties and their leaders who earlier tried to bring the same amendments but failed due to lack of capabilities are not opposing the same just for their vested interests. Three revolutionary bills include Farmers Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act – 2020, Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Services Act – 2020 and Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act – 2020.

The new legal amendments have been made to materialize the vision of one nation, one market to clear hurdles and obligations on farming and trading of crops. It is first time in the history of independent India when farmers have been given independence to set the price of their agricultural produces. Vishnoi added that it is a disappointing fact of the country that farmers always worked as slaves for emperors, Nawabs, British rulers and Congress Party. Now the PM Modi Government is trying to provide them independence, opposition parties are misguiding the farmers for their political agenda. During the press conference, MLA Ashok Rohani, City President, G S Thakur and former Mayor, Dr Swati Godbole and others were present.
