Youth arrested for abusing women on social media after Shiv Sena holds demonstrations
Gittikhadan Police have registered an offence against a person after a video of him abusing women of a particular section of society went viral on social media. Shiv Sena workers staged demonstrations in front of house of the accused and also at Gittikhadan and Sadar Police Stations demanding his arrest. Commissioner of Police (CP) Amitesh Kumar himself intervened into the matter and pacified the agitating Sena workers.
The accused was identified as Arbaz Khan (27), a resident of Friends Colony. A press release of Shiv Sena informed that a video in which Arbaz Khan abusing women went viral on social media on Thursday. After watching the video, the Sena workers led by Mahanagar Chief Pramod Manmode, City Chief Nitin Tiwari and corporator Bandu Talwekar gathered in front of the house of Arbaz Khan and staged demonstration on Friday afternoon. Later, the Sena workers moved to Gittikhadan and Sadar Police Stations demanding action against Khan.
As the situation was turning tense, CP Amitesh Kumar immediately visited Sadar Police Station to cool down the agitating Sena workers. After finding involvement of Khan in the video, the CP ordered immediate registration of offence against Khan. Addl CP Navinchandra Reddy and DCP Zone II Vinita Sahu were also present with the CP. An offence under Sections 295 of Indian Penal Code and provisions of IT Act was registered against Khan by Gittikhadan Police and arrested the accused.
A top rank official said that two more persons are involved in making the video viral on social media. Shailesh Pandey, Pramod Thakur, Ashish Hadge, Manoj Shahu, Akshay Meshram, Akash Pandey, Shashikant Thakre, Pawan Gauguskar, Vishal Kork, Dheeraj Fandi, Kiran Shedke, Sachin Dakor, Ram Kukade, Mangesh Thakre, Bunty Dhurve, Gaurav Shahu, Abhishek Dhurve and others took part in the agitation.

DCP Vinita Sahu informed that Khan was involved in several body and property offences. “We are checking his criminal background and learnt that he was also accused in The Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act,” the DCP said.
