Both the food processing units were sealed for sub-standard practices
SDM, Patan, Ashish Pandey along with Food Security Department team raided two food processing units in Bilahri and Gora Bazar areas and sealed the units for substandard practices, on Tuesday. SDM, Ashish Pandey informed that under the direction of Collector, Karmveer Sharma administration has started a special campaign against production and sale of spurious quality food items. During the campaign, they received information about food processing unit.
Taking prompt action on the information, he along with a team of Food Security Department raided the identified unit named Sanjay Industries situated near Bilahri Bridge. In the raid, team found use of sub-standard quality of artificial colour used for colouring gram used in production of Chikki and other food items. In another raid at snacks production unit of Rahu Dasani, team seized and destroyed 10-tins used edible oil and spurious quality of 50-kilograms potato.
In both the raids, Foot Security Department conducted sampling of around 20-different food items for their further laboratory test and sealed the production units. SDM, Ashish Pandey informed that they have raided around 14 units in last one week and imposed financial penalty of Rs. 3 lakhs on Daily Needs Suhagi while recovery of spot fine amounting to Rs. 75,000 was carried out from owners.
