Chhattisgarh Cyber Police have busted a gang of fraudsters indulged in tricking people online with the help of a fake website developed in the name of Government of India’s Common Service Center (CSC) by arresting six gang-members. The gang tricks people on the pretext of ensuring loan, bank customer service center, LPG distribution and offering other services through the fake CSC website.

“A team from the state’s cyber police station has arrested six persons, including a woman and a minor boy, for allegedly duping a 27-year-old man identified as Ramkumar Yadav, hailing from Mungeli district, to the tune of around Rs 1.16 lakh by using fake website development in the name of government’s CSC,” said police sources. Police sources further informed that considering the case of serious nature, the state’s Cyber police station launched a probe by constituting a nine-member team identified as Anjali Kumari (19), Gulshan Kumar (18), Surendra Kumar Tanti (29), Ramlagan Kumar alias Ayush (22), Sanjeet Kumar (23) and a minor boy. Based on prima-facie investigation, the team was dispatched to Bihar and Jharkhand to nab the fraudsters. After camping for a few days, the team managed to nab six persons from Koderma district of Jharkhand. From their possession, the team has recovered 15 mobile handsets, a LED television set, printer, laptop, a Sports Utility Vehicle (JH10 BU 9833) and cash worth Rs 51825. Besides, the investigators have also seized debit cards, bank passbooks, SIM and other articles.

“During questioning, the arrested gang-members revealed that to dupe people they work as a syndicate. A person in Patna provides them a bank account for receiving money from the victim and charges Rs 20000-25000 against per account. The team has launched a probe to identify the gang-members in Bihar and ensure their arrest,” said police sources. An offence in this connection was registered with state’s cyber police station under Sections 420, 465, 471, 34 of Indian Penal Code (IPC) and under relevant Sections of Information Technology (IT) Act.
