Raipur,
Several studies have proved an old saying ‘healthy mind lives in a healthy body’. Perhaps, this is the reason why the newly-posted Collector of Naxal-infested Sukma district, Vinit Nandanwar, prefers to spend some time in the gym. As gym workout pictures of the District Collector have gone viral on social media, these pictures are being admired by people from all walks of life especially younger generation. Unlike many top bureaucrats, Collector Nandanwar is very conscious of fitness and his six pack abs and fitness can match any professionals’. Stating the secret of his fitness, the young Collector said that he is always very conscious of his health and stick to a healthy lifestyle. As an IAS, there is a lot of work pressure, but even then he finds time for himself to remain fit. It is not difficult to do so.
After all, it is a matter of health. Nandanwar was tested positive for Covid-19 during his tenure as Additional District Magistrate in Raipur. He got infected while discharging his duty and his model of home quarantine for Covid patients earned a lot of applause. Nandanwar said that business and problems in life will go hand-in-hand, but in between, a person must take some time out of his/her busy schedule for one’s health. Regardless of the situation, one should maintain an optimistic attitude.
This is the important formula of his life. Nandanwar asked the youth to pay attention to fitness and appealed them not to take steroids for shaping body. Make a body in a natural way. According to him, people should not compromise on health for taste of the tongue. Speaking to The Hitavada, Nandawar said that fitness can be maintained through regular exercise in a gym or through yoga. “I have been working in gym for last four-five years. I would advise youths to shun gutkha, cigarette and other such products. Instead of spending hours on watching web series, youths should spend time on their fitness. Make healthy body your status symbol. I never eat junk food,” said the District Collector. The main thing one should follow is healthy, natural and clean diet, he said.
When asked about the positives of working out in gym, Nandanwar said that one hour daily in the gym has helped him reduce his stress level, increasing focus. “I take egg, paneer, ghee and green vegetables in my diet. My morning activities start at 5 am and after 12-13 hours of rigorous work mental fatigue is obvious. I then go for one hour exercise in the evening to reduce the stress level. Exercise has also decreased sleep complaints,” said Nandanwar. Balance is the theory of life and youths should maintain that balance, said Nandanwar in his message for the younger generation.
