The desire of Home Minister, Dr Narottam Mishra to become volunteer for corona vaccine trial remained unfulfilled as doctor’s find him unfit in set criteria on Thursday. But many have praised the courage shown by Dr Narottam Mishra to volunteer for corona vaccine trial.
 
“It was a my deep desire that I should become volunteer of corona vaccine trial so that I could do something for society. It’s deep pain in heart that I could not suit fit in ICMR Eligibility Criteria,” said Dr Narottam Mishra. “People’s Medical College’s Dean Dr Anil Dixit told that vaccine could not be administered to me in the form of volunteer. According to eligibility criteria, no close relative of volunteer should have COVID-19. My wife and son had become corona positive,” he tweeted.
 
At 11.26 am on Friday, Dr Narottam Mishra reached People’s Medical College and underwent counselling process. Later, doctors asked question that whether any of his close relative suffered from corona disease. He informed that his wife and son had been victim of corona and he had stayed with wife when she was suffering from disease. Therefore, he was found to be unfit under the set criteria. After getting rejected as volunteer for corona vaccine trial, Dr Narottam Mishra said that it is very rare that when occasion comes to do something for society and he is having deep pain as he could not fit in volunteer criteria of corona vaccine trial. He, however, pointed out that during consultation, queries and inquiring are done so much that after hearing them, volunteer gets encircled with many types of suspicions. After hearing them, volunteer will not be able to come. “It is my view that this process should be simplified,” he told.
