This highway will be the best in the country and the work from Nagpur to Shirdi cities will be completed by May 1 and then to Mumbai in the next one year. This highway will be a role model for the overall development of the state as it will provide the best transport facilities as well as promote agriculture and ancillary industries. According to Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation, the Nagpur-Mumbai Expressway includes 73.33 km long stretch in Amravati district. It will pass from 46 villages in 3 tehsils namely Dhamangaon Railway, Chandur Railway and Nandgaon Khandeshwar in the district. The third phase will be completed at the cost of Rs 2,850 crore.
Two interchanges are proposed on this highway. Many districts to be benefitted: The Samrudhi Mahamarg passes through 12 main districts including Nagpur, Wardha, Amravati, Yavatmal, Washim, Akola, Buldana, Jalna, Aurangabad, Ahmednagar, Nashik, Thane and Mumbai. Indirectly, some districts like Chandrapur, Bhandara, Gondia, Gadchiroli, Hingoli, Parbhani, Nanded, Beed, Dhule, Jalgaon, Palghar and Raigad will also be benefited from the fast transport. About 26 tehsils and 392 villages will be connected to this Samrudhi Highway. A large number of labourers and other working staff were advancing the work rapidly. However, in March, the coronavirus pandemic and consequent lockdown affected the work in Mumbai, Thane and other districts to some extent. A large number of migrant labourers left their jobs and went to the villages. This also hit the highway work hard.
