ALL India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has given five unique projects worth over Rs 30 lakh to city’s Government Polytechnic (GP). This is for the first time that GP, Nagpur got so many projects at a time. It is probably for the first time in State that a single polytechnic has received so many projects at a time. Out of these, only one project is technical-based.
Rest are based on behavioural practices, moral values, etc. The projects will be run as Short Term Training Programmes (STTP). The themes of the projects include Behavioural Practices for maximum personal productivity, moral ethics and values in education, perspective on Bharat Stage (BS) VI norms in IC engine. Apart from these three projects AICTE has asked Polytechnic to hold international conference on green energy for sustainable development and setting up a centre of skill and personality development for the schemes under which the institute has received funding from AICTE.
The projects include Short Term Training Programme (STTP) for behavioural practices for maximum personal productivity. It is a one week programme and Mudrika Ahmed is its Coordinator. Another STTP is on moral ethics and values in education, again a one week course having Dr Anjali Mahajan as its Coordinator. Principal is the Coordinator for holding international conference on green energy for sustainable development. Dr Mudrika Ahmed will coordinate the project of setting up Skill and personality Development centre for SC/ST students. Apart from these non-technical programmes one technical activity too was asked by AICTE to Government Polytechnic.
This activity is related to Bharat Stage (BS) VI norms in IC engines perspective. Prof Deepak Kulkarni, Principal of Government Polytechnic told‘The Hitavada’, “It is an added advantage to us against accreditation. Our nine branches are accreditated by National Board of Accreditation (NBA). This will give us lot of benefit. These eight branches include Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Enigineering, Electronics and Telecommunication, Computer Engineering, Information and Technology (IT ), Textile Manufacturing engineering, Automobile Engineering, Mining and Mine Surveying. While choosing STTP, we deliberately gave importance to moral, behavioural practices. Since cars with new technology would run on Indian roads, we included programme related to BS 6 new standards.”
