Nagpur’s medical colleges get over 75 addl PG seats

DMIMS becomes the first in central India to have MD Emergency Medicine PG programme started with 3 seats

AFTER Nagpur’s two medical colleges Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) and Indira Gandhi Government Medical College and Hospital (IGGMCH) got 33 more Post Graduate medical seats, the two well-known private medical colleges too reportedly got 44 additional PG seats. Government Medical College and Hospital and Indira Gandhi Government Medical College and Hospital (IGGMCH) have already registered an increase of 33 PG seats. With this seats the total tally of additional PG seats in medical colleges in Nagpur region rose to 77.
 
These medical colleges submitted the application and was as per the new rule of increased teacher- students ratio which is applicable for Government Medical Colleges and those private medical colleges which are 15 years old and running recognised PG courses. Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College (J NMC), comes under Datta Meghe Institute of Medical Sciences deemed to be university (DMIMS) had applied for more PG seats and got 11 additional seats.
 
They include ENT, Psychiatry, Orthopaedics. ENT had three PG seats and with two additional seats the tally reached to 5. Psychiatry had 3 seats and it too got two more seats. Orthopaedic department was running with eight seats.This year it got 4 more seats. A total of 11 PG seats are increased. This has made JNMC, a college with 250 Under Graduate seats, 159 Post Graduate seats and 2 Super Specialty seats. DMIMS became the first in central India to have MD Emergency Medicine PG program started with 3 seats.
 
NKPSIMS had applied for increase in PG seats in 12 subjects in April 2019 for academic year 2020-21. Out of these 12 subjects, MCI conducted inspections in 9 subjects. NKPSIMS got increase in all the 9 subjects: They include 1) General Medicine-8 to 18, 2) Pediatrics-8 to 10, 3) Gynecology8 to 11, 4) Psychiatry-3 to 5, 5) Anaesthesia-8 to 12, 6) Pathology7 to 12, 7) ENT-2 to 5, 8) Respiratiory Medicine-2 to 5 and 9) Ophthalmology-4 to 5. So total 33 seats of PG in NKPSIMS are increased for the academic year 2020-21. NKPSIMS now has got total 133 Broad Specialty PG seats and 2 Super specialty seats in Plastic and pediatric Surgery
