Prof Madhusudan Penna, Dean of the faculty of Indian Religion, Philosophy and Culture, Kavikulguru Kalidas Sanskrit University (KKSU) has been conferred upon honorary Doctor of Literature (D Litt) by National Sanskrit University Tirupati during its 23rd convocation held on Sunday at Tirupati. The D Litt was given to Prof Penna at the hands of Chancellor and former Chief Election Commissioner, N Gopalaswami. P S Narsingh, Senior Advocate, Supreme Court of India, New Delhi and Vice-Chancellor of National Sanskrit University, Prof Murlidhar Sharma were also present.
 
Prof Srinivasa Varkhedi, Vice-Chancellor, Kavikulguru Kalidasa Sanskrit University (KKSU) Ramtek also attended the function as the member of Management Council of National Sanskrit University, Tirupati. Prof Madhusudan Penna’s name has been declared for the Sahitya Akademi Award-2019 for his Sanskrit epic ‘Pradnya Chakshum’. The award having scroll of honour, shawl and a cash prize of Rs one lakh will be presented to Prof Penna during a ceremony to be held on February 25, 2020 in New Delhi. Prof Penna has penned complete biography of Sant Gulabrao Maharaj through a Sanskrit epic ‘Pradnyachakshum’. He had also conducted research on books written by Gulabrao Maharaj. He is spreading the thoughts and principles of Sant Gulabrao Maharaj through lectures and speeches.
 
Prof Srinivasa Varakhedi, Vice-Chancellor of KKSU congratulated Prof Penna for getting D Litt Prof Varakhedi stated, “Prof Penna has mastery over Sanskrit language. This moment is very prestigious moment for KKSU.” Prof Penna is a researcher of Indian and Western philosophies. He is expert of Vedanta, Nyayshashtra and Yogashashtra. Prof Penna is proficient in Darshan Shashtra, Sanskrit language, literature, grammar, different Shashtra. He himself is a poet and penned two epics like ‘Kavyakantha Charitam’ and ‘Pradnyachakshum’. In addition he had written number of Sanskrit poems.
 
Prof Penna’s research papers have been published in number of journals in Telugu, Marathi, English languages. He also published 27 books and research papers in different national and international conferences. Prof Penna had delivered key note addresses and called as expert advisor in number of conferences. His CD on Shrimadbhagwat Geeta, Dashopnishad, Yogashashtra, Adwait Vedanta, etc., have been released. Prof Penna has been awarded with Yuvavipashchit, Sanskrit Pandit, Pandit Satwalekar Puraskar, Pandit Latkar Award, Somnath Trust Gold Medal, etc.
