32nd Munshi Memorial Inter-School Debate Competition organised by Bhavans’s B P Vidya Mandir, Civil Lines held
The first prize was bagged by Tannishtha Ghosh of DPS, Kamptee
The second prize was shared by Yasha Motwani of CPS, Wardhaman Nagar and Mahita Gupta of Bhavan’s Bhagwandas Purohit Vidya Mandir, Civil Lines. The third prize was shared by Tushnaa Major of J N Tata Parsi and Kushagra Hathiwala of Bhavan’s Bhagwandas Purohit Vidya Mandir, Trimurti Nagar; The Upcoming Debater prize was shared by Ankush Shandilya of Bhavan’s Bhagwandas Purohit Vidya Mandir, Civil Lines and Vedansh Rajgor of Sandipani, Hazaripahad
The much-awaited annual event 32nd Munshi Memorial Debate Competition was organised in Bhavan’s Bhagwandas Purohit Vidya Mandir, Civil Lines to commemorate the Punya teethi of Dr K.M. Munshi, founder of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan. “Escalating Artificial Intelligence is Robbing Intellectual Growth” was the topic for the competition. In the thought provoking, lively and prestigious Debate Competition in which 38 students from 19 schools put forth their views for and against the motion. “Escalating Artificial Intelligence is Robbing Intellectual Growth” was the main area of focus.
The Munshi Memorial Debate Rolling Trophy went to DPS, Kamptee. The first prize was bagged by Tannishtha Ghosh of DPS, Kamptee. The Second prize was shared by Yasha Motwani of Centre Point School, Wardhaman Nagar and Mahita Gupta of Bhavan’s Bhagwandas Purohit Vidya Mandir, Civil Lines. The third prize was shared by Tushnaa Major of J N Tata Parsi and Kushagra Hathiwala of Bhavan’s Bhagwandas Purohit Vidya Mandir, Trimurti Nagar; The Upcoming Debater prize was shared by Ankush Shandilya of Bhavan’s Bhagwandas Purohit Vidya Mandir, Civil Lines and Vedansh Rajgor of Sandipani, Hazaripahad. Prominent among those present were Dr Sunanda Sonarikar, Secretary, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Nagpur Kendra; Dr A K Mukherjee, Associate Secretary, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Nagpur Kendra; Prof Q H Jeevaji, Executive Committee Member, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Nagpur Kendra; Padmini Jog, Executive Committee Member, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Nagpur Kendra; Shrimati Madkholkar, Principal, Kalasrijan; T L Raja, Joint Director, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Nagpur Kendra and Datarkar. The Chairperson and the judges commented on efforts taken by the Principal Anju Bhutani and the guidance imparted by her to make the programme success. After lighting of lamp to initiate the programme proceedings, the Chairperson Dr Lokendra Singh, Consultant Neuro and Spinal Surgeon, Director, Central India Institute of Medical Science, Nagpur and all the dignitaries offered floral tributes to Dr K M Munshi and garlanded his portrait.
The judges for the mega event were Aasawari Shenolikar, Magazine Editor, ‘The Hitavada’; Dr Urmila Dabir, Principal, Rajkumar Kewalramani Kanya Mahavidyalaya and Dr Rajesh Iyer, Visiting Professor, PG Department of Commerce, RTMNU and the Corporate Trainer. Dr Lokendra Singh, announcing the topic and the rules of the competition, threw open the debate to the participants of the various schools. Dr Lokendra Singh said it was an enriching experience and the young speakers were nothing less than pocket dynamos. He concluded that over dependence on machines is not good, balance is extremely important. Students of Standard XI, Tanvi Pophali; Om Badiyani; Ayuj Tiwari; Vasu Jain and Padmaja Uttalwar under the leadership of Charan Preet Saini conducted the proceedings. Krishna Goenka proposed a vote of thanks. The overall incharges, Kauser Hussain and Ashu Khanna worked hard for the programme.
